Even more so, as I have continued on this fitness journey, it has become painfully obvious to me that one of the biggest obstacles to achieving that coveted, lean look is the simple fact that people don’t understand just how critical what you eat dictates how you look and feel.  While calories IN absolutely matter, the types of calories consumed matter more.

Protein is a huge component of successfully achieving and maintaining a lean and fit body.  I can’t stress this enough. But as I talk to friends and notice what they choose to eat, so many (women especially) eat meals totally devoid of any substantial protein.  This saddens me so I continue to encourage them to try to get protein into every meal and snack. We are sticklers about this in our family!    I think my husband and I might be dubbed the “protein police”!

I have even had people ask me, well, exactly what is protein?  Needless to say, I have struggled with this question as given my experience, I knew what foods were proteins and I really could not appreciate that some people truly did not know.  I decided that I wanted to educate and inform and provide some tools to help get people on the right track.  I also decided that simple is best and that there was no need to over complicate things. But this is only one piece of the puzzle.

This purpose of this website is to provide guidance for understanding protein and its role in gaining and maintaining lean muscle mass. Eating lean matters in order to build and maintain lean muscle mass.

The goal is to achieve and maintain a lean physique through diet and exercise.  Lean protein consumption is a key part of that, along with learning how to cook to gain and maintain your new lean and fit body. This site is also about helping people learn how to make more effective food choices and how to cook for improved fitness and health.

Building and maintaining muscle also involves some commitment to training.  How much and what type is dependent on your goals and needs.  However, inasmuch as exercise plays a role in reaching our fitness goals, I will say that diet is 80% of what is needed to obtain and maintain a lean, fit physique. Yes, eating lean matters.

Learning new skills and breaking old habits isn’t easy.  But it is very much achievable with the proper guidance, direction and coaching.  This site is about giving you the proper knowledge and information to affect changing your body.  There is so much conflicting information out there and so many people taking advantage of people that is very difficult at times to sift through all the noise and get down to what works.

My aim is to help with that process by giving you one place to find honest and legitimate information to help you achieve your goals once and for all. I strive to keep up on the latest studies and techniques and I will work to share these with you as they become available.

I will share a bit of conventional wisdom along with what my experience has taught me and what has worked for me personally. Sometimes there will merely be food for thought, but there will always be a commitment on my part to provide useful information towards helping you achieve your goals.  Of course, you will need to do the work, but I am here to help you.  So let’s summarize:
