Breaking Bad Habits

Ok, so last time we spoke about procrastination.  Many have a really hard time getting on a weight loss and exercise program and constantly procrastinate often to the point of never beginning.

A bit of advice, sometimes it’s easier to just take it one step at a time.  Strive to break one bad habit a week until you are on a healthier path.  If eating or snacking before bed is a habit, just quitting that one habit will equate to some amount of weight loss.  A family member of mine is always saying she doesn’t know where the weight comes from but then once she reflects on those midnight trips to the fridge, she has a reality check and she knows exactly how the excess pounds got there.

One tip on conquering this one, strive to have the best dental hygiene on the planet!  Brush, rinse, brush your tongue, gargle, floss and spray.  Do anything and everything to make those pearlies white and breath minty fresh.  Just try and have a snack after all of that.  It’s tough to do.  Who wants to ruin all of that hard work?

Find a coping strategy for every bad habit and then one by one commit to eliminating that habit from your life.  They say things become habit after anywhere from 1 month – 3 months. It’s like we reprogram our brains to do something new.  It absolutely can be done in 30 days if you put your mind to it.  Give it a try!

‘Til next time,
